You might be surprised to find out that my marketing tips don’t include photo mugs, key chains or ornaments. In fact, they aren’t about products at all.
It’s December and at this late date, the pressure to create last minute photo gift products is too much for me. When I factor in my time to create, upload and deliver, the stress is much higher than my net profit.
Work Smarter, Not Harder
As a small business owner for over 25 years, I know it’s one of the most hectic seasons for most of us. I focus on my own family and friends and try very hard to work as little as possible during the month of December.
Instead, my business goal in November and December is to set myself up for a strong and successful January. Part of that strategy includes working 2-3 months ahead of goals and deadlines. That means I scheduled client projects that included holiday gifts in September and October.
I can wrap up loose ends this month and focus on scheduling for January and February. Whether you are a new business owner or a seasoned one, it’s a great time to do some year-end marketing and start scheduling for the first quarter of 2015.
3 Tips to Market Your Services!
- Offer specific appointments to your ideal clients and lock in the dates with pre-payment to hold their spots
- Offer a gift certificate to a client spouse or family for a 2015 session
- Send a handwritten note thanking them for their past business with a p.s. about available dates in the new year that you know will work well with their schedules
These tips really work! In October and November I scheduled half day sessions with clients for January and yes, they really have pre-paid. I know how many sessions I have available and how much I want to earn each month which has nothing to do with product sales.
