When you attend any conference, do you set goals for the conference?
I’m often surprised by how many people don’t!
Between clearing your schedule and budgeting and juggling family and regular life responsibilities and packing and getting there, it can be both exciting and tiring by the time you actually arrive. The schedule is packed and the speaker lineup can be daunting. It’s fun to be in a room with like-minded business colleagues, many of whom have become friends and you may not see them except at conference time.
We get that!
But we also understand that you need to take a little time before conference to ensure that you get a solid return on your investment (ROI) and we want you to factor in your time investment and your money investment. There is a great bonus worksheet in the Networking 101 Master Training that you can use to help crunch your numbers for any conference and will also help you set goals.
Set 3 goals
Here are 3 generic goals that you can refine and make more specific based on your business needs:
- Meet, sit with or introduce yourself to 3 new people
- Prioritize your top presentations and breakouts to be sure you don’t miss them
- Visit 3 vendor booths and learn more about their products or services
Set 3 goals for every conference (this also applies to meetings). You will be pleasantly surprised at how much more you get out of conferences and meetings when you are purposeful and intentional and know why you are investing your time and money!
